Stochastic %K (Fast) Indicator

The "raw" stochastic calculation is referred to as %K.  It is raw because it is calculated directly from the price and not smoothed.  The raw value is very volatile, so it is typically smoothed (through a moving average).  This smoothed value is called %D.  A long signal occurs when the fast line crosses under the slow line below a reading of 20.  A sell or short sell signal occurs when the fast line crosses over the slow line above a reading of 80.
