We've wrapped up the initial implementation of an SQL Server 2000/2005 data store. Based on our calculations, this datastore significantly outperforms Access (Jet) and XML. With 10,000+ ticks per hour, the SQL Server database had put no significant strain on the machine. We even tested over a network (remote SQL Server) and it was able to keep up with all incoming data. On the other hand, Access collecting the same amount of data suffered greatly.
If any beta tester is interested in using SQL Server, please contact our development staff for a copy of the database schema.
If you haven't signed up for the beta, we're still taking applications before the first public beta release. Please sign up here.
