Nice to Haves:

VWAP (actual or minute based bands)

Pivots

Hull Moving Average

X period Median series

Also would be nice to have different colors for series, X-color for up from previous and Y-color for down from previous. I believe this has already been requested.

thx

VWAP seems like a simple enough indicator to add.  I've added that to the tracking system.

Which pivot point calculation do you use/recommend?

Also, I can add the Hull.  If you know of a source for the formula, that would be very helpful.

x period Median Series.  I'm afraid I'm not familiar with that one.

HMA:

  var SlowWMA: integer = WMASeries( Series, Period );
  var FastWMA: integer = WMASeries( Series, Period div 2 );
  Result := AddSeries( FastWMA, SubtractSeries( FastWMA, SlowWMA ) );
  Result := WMASeries( Result, Trunc( Sqrt( Period ) ) );

where WMASeries = Weighted Moving Average Series

Note that VWAP only works on TICK data so anything other than TICK it is an approximation so the user should have the option to specify series.

i.e. VWAP(O,H,L,C)

This allows for VWAP(HIGH) and VWAP(LOW) giving a band within which VWAP(CLOSE) on TICK data would be located if TICK data was not available.

Pivots (Standard for now)

R2 = P + (H - L) = P + (R1 - S1)
R1 = (P x 2) - L
P = (H + L + C) / 3
S1 = (P x 2) - H
S2 = P - (H - L) = P - (R1 - S1)

Somebody doublecheck this, but its the standard Pivot Points I'm looking for.

thx

MedianSeries:

Format:

MedianSeries(Series,Period)

{

for bar = Period to count-1

{

m = Median(Series(bar),LookBack = Period) //lookback Period bars and find the Median

ReturnSeries[Bar] = m

}

}

Hope this makes sense. simply a moving Median series of Period x as opposed to a moving average series of period x.

thx

Note that Heikin Ashi can be added as an indicator instead of a chartstyle if thats easier.

BTW, can an indicator have multiple plots? i.e. OHLC for every bar?

No, it's a single series.  However, you could write a "system" that contains the plots.  If I understand Heikin Ashi, I'm not really sure how you would accomplish "modifying" the candlesticks themselves with an indicator.

Billb,

I borrowed a pivot point calculator.  Basically, it's

R3 = R2 + RANGE (same as: PP + RANGE * 2)
R2 = PP + RANGE
R1 = (2 * PP) - LOW
PP = (HIGH + LOW + CLOSE) / 3
S1 = (2 * PP) - HIGH
S2 = PP - RANGE
S3 = S2 - RANGE (same as: PP - RANGE * 2)

However, it would be great if you could add pivot midpoints.  These are apparently used when the range is higher than normal (tried to find this 'higher than normal' using google, but failed).  Maybe you could make this optional ?

Also, from the attached spreadsheet, the weekly and monthly values are also used by traders.  Apparently, confluence adds significance to pivots.

Finally, I've had a bit of a look around, and for futures the full day's range is used (i.e. take into account the overnight high or low).

Thanks, Eric
