Configuring Live Data

With the beta 1 refresh package, we're enabling what is the beginning of our live data features.  At this point any live data collected will be displayed in the Live Data pane.  Supported data feeds are through OpenTick (preferred provider) and Interactive Brokers.

If you have accounts with either of these companies, you're already 90% of the way there.  The next thing to do is to configure your services in RightEdge.  Select Tools, Configure Services.  This displays a list of services that are currently configured.  Click the Add button to add a live data feed.  Services that have the ability to retrieve live data will have a "Yes" under the Live column.

Type in a friendly name and click Next.  Depending on the provider, the next dialog may vary.  In the case of OpenTick, you will be prompted for a server address, port, user name and password.  Enter this information and click Next.  You have now configured a real time data service for RightEdge.

Now you will need to assign symbols to this service.  Right click on the Symbol Lists item at the top of the Watchlist tree.

Select the Services tab and select your new real time service provider in the list as shown below.

Click OK.  Right click on the Symbol Lists item at the top of the Watchlist tree and this time create a new folder.  Name it accordingly.  Once the folder is created, right click on the newly created folder and select Configure Folder.

Enter the desired symbol names and click OK.  Now place a check mark next to each symbol that you'd like live data for.  Once this is done, click the play button on the Live Data toolbar.

Note: if you do not see a live data toolbar it may be enabled by right clicking on an empty area of the toolbar and placing a checkmark next to the Live Data option.

Live data should now start streaming in your Live Data pane.

Our next refresh will contain the ability to watch charts update in real time with this data, so stay tuned.
